The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
